Amycakes Bakery was voted the runner up for best bake shop in mid-Missouri in the 2015 Feast 50. This Q&A was conducted with owner Amy Bloodworth.

Tell us about a few of your most popular items, and how they embody your mission. Several of our cake flavors have become very popular over the past six years. We make a vanilla almond cake that is very popular, and we often make fruit compotes as fillings. Our customers seem to like the raspberry and strawberry compotes the most, and with the vanilla almond cake, it makes a delicious combination! I love that our customers appreciate our made-from-scratch motto, which is our mission  to make everything from scratch, and as delicious as it looks.

Find owner Amy Bloodworth's special order cakes and other treats — and now, a limited number of daily treats like cupcakes and cookies — at 1108 E. Walnut St.

Bloodworth reopened her business Thursday. The new location features a baking kitchen and a separate cake decorating room where customers now can see decorators at work.

And it allows Bloodworth to offer daily treats, including homemade cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and cookies. Daily treats will be listed online.

She and her husband, glass artist Gabe Bloodworth, purchased the historic Walnut Street house, known as the Carrington House, taking advantage of the work/live zoning ordinance.
